What is even easier is to rig an audio amplifier and use a plug in earpiece.
Your ears and brain make great frequency analyzers. That way you can easily 
tell the difference in normal engines sounds and knock. An airplane is 
probably too noisy to hear the knock unaided. See the ACRE NL web site for 
a schematic.

The trouble with both these schemes is you would not be quick enough 
to respond to the knock. 

The anti detonation fluid injection scheme would not even require a computer.
The comparator would just trigger a high pressure spray of detonation fluid
using ordinary fuel injectors. An LED could light telling you the system 
was active so you could back off the throttle when the time became appropriate.
