Sounds like it might work. A Marcotte PSRU is short at 12 inches and heavy.
Finding a four blade constant speed alloy prop would help. As I understand it the
structure of the S51 is mostly .040 alloy skins which are quite heavy.
Perhaps you could make parts of the tail in carbon fiber to help 
the weight and balance. 

BTW Despite breaking the gear box in the S51 weighs 120 pounds!
