I agree that some of this gunk is caused by EGR and PVC, but note that
engines treated with frequent oil changes do not show this buildup until
much later in their life cycles - maybe 200,000 miles or more according
to the contributors to this newsletter. I think contaminated oil leaves
more corrosive deposits (along with all the other bad 4-stroke stuff )
when it burns in the combustion chamber.
