I saw this in a worn out 12A . Someone else -- maybe Ed Anderson -- reported lots of carbon build up on the rear rotor. The consensus was that the rear rotor and housing runs hotter than the front because it gets the coolant last. The rear rotor housing is probably the place for the knock sensor and thermocouples.
