Hang in there Ken. I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings.

The engine mount must be stable in and of itself with no help from
the engine. This is because of the rubber between the engine 
and the mount. BTW The top of those RV landing gear legs make a great
place to weld the engine brace diagonals to.

With the front of the rad up under the engine you get a better
cowl shape because the cowl is wider the closer you get to the 
thrust line.
