installation the exhaust config will dictate the probe be no further

about 5 inches from the port.

At this time, I now use the shorter tip probes and was thinking of using
small washers to keep them out of the exhaust blast proper. (small washers
slipped over the probe tip)
My probes are now about 15 inches from the port, and I could move them even
farther if necessary
In my experience,  Westach probes located as close as 5 inches from the port
should not last long if exposed to the exhaust blast.
