The benefit for me in having the starter off to the side is that  it leaves the area under the redrive available for an air scoop feeding the oil cooler and induction system. The exhaust air from the oil cooler dumps into an exhaust box which surrounds the exhaust system and then dumps out the side of the cowl.Trying to  fit all that stuff under the redrive with the starter there would be a little difficult.

Tracy- does your ignition/fuel injection computer work with the crank angle sensor on the 13 Brew( set up as an NA engine)?
