Meanwhile, I've added .01" stainless heat shielding between muffler and
engine
and between carbs and muffler and want to add stainless on the inside
of the
cowling near muffler and exhaust. Aluminum does not stop a direct blast
from
cracks in the muffler. I cut through one of the header pipes and put
flex pipe
over it. I hope that's enough to prevent cracking from muffler
expansion and
contraction.

This was really the primary reason for my exhaust system design - get the
heat out from under the cowl as soon as possible. Cuts down on the
potential for damage done by a blow out, reduces the need for heat shields,
and hopefully will reduce the cooling system demands.

Good thinking Mike. If I go with the stock turbo on the Cruiser
I will bring the exhaust 180 degrees out the side of the cowl near the front.
The turbo turbine would then be near the front and the compressor near the back.
It will look like it has a mini PT6 :-) I am working on a drawing now.
