Meanwhile, I've added .01" stainless heat shielding between muffler and

engine

and between carbs and muffler and want to add stainless on the inside of the
cowling near muffler and exhaust. Aluminum does not stop a direct blast from
cracks in the muffler. I cut through one of the header pipes and put flex

pipe

over it. I hope that's enough to prevent cracking from muffler expansion and
contraction.

be vibrating at a resonant frequency and cracking due to this.  This problem
is dramatically worsened by the sever loss of stiffness and strength of metals
at the very high temperatures of the exhaust systems, esp rotaries.
Consider the stiffness of the system and perhaps add a strut or two to help
out if it looks like it might need it.
