Please explain "short cowl version of the Kis Cruiser". I was not aware
that
you could get more than 1 version.
What size is that radiator you mocked up there?
Where is your thrust line? (not sure about the terminology)
How much space do you think we will need between the water pump pulley
shaft
and the firewall?
Many thanks
Mike
The earlier Cruisers had a shorter cowl than that shown in pictures of the
Continental six cylinder IO-360 powered factory demo Cruiser owned by Bill
Grote.
That is the long cowl version. Early airplanes had the shorter four
cylinder
Lyc IO360. What year did you buy your kit?
I think it is 24 inches wide by about 27 inches long and two inches thick.
It may be only 20 inches wide. I forgot. I will check next time
I go to the hangar.
You will need to clear the nose gear strut and that is about 2.5 inches in
diameter so give it four inches from the firewall. If the prop flange
extends out
of the short cowl no big problem. Just extend the cowl an inch or two
immediately
behind the spinner with a short composite cylinder 12 to 14 inches in
diameter to match
the spinner. I will measure the cowl length again for you when I go to the
hangar.

Thanks, I never thought of using the same cowl, I was going to make a
completely new cowl but this is a much better idea. I have the short cowl as
well.
Thanks
Mike
I agree. We have enough stuff to build without re-inventing the cowl wheel.
