Back to the combustion of glycol thread -

I have an '88 RX7 with the little antifreeze bottle on the firewall for
the "sub-zero starting system".  This has always puzzled me.  Why is
there a need to inject a 90/10 glycol/water mix to help the engine
start?

They refer to this as "starting fluid".  Up here in ND what we refer to
as starting fluid is almost always ether.

Anyone understand why they did this?
