If the dual valve was available then, I would have used it.  I added a

switch under his handle to light a LED on the tank gage glass for the

This is not what I am doing.   I have two EFI pumps (in parallel) which
always draw from the left tank.  The second pump is for backup.  The return
line is always to the left tank.   When I want to level the fuel load I turn
on a small (Facit) low pressure transfer pump from the right tank to the
left tank return line.

Fuel management consists of remembering that the transfer pump is on (use a
light on the panel to remind you) so that you don't over fill the left tank
and dump fuel out the vent line.  This can happen when both tanks have a lot
of fuel and you get absent minded.  I plan to install a timer which
automatically shuts off after transfering 5 gallons to reduce pilot work
load.  Just hit the button once when you want to transfer some fuel and
forget about it.

In addition to the reduced plumbing and lack of valves, one of the things I
like about this setup is that it eliminates almost all unusable fuel and
there is no uncertainty about when to switch tanks when running low on fuel
(it happens to everyone sooner or later).  The right tank can be pumped
completely dry without having to wait for the engine to cough or stop.
