I'm new to this goup and am concerened about the positioning of the

crank

angle sensor.  I scribed a line on the eccentric shaft hub in line with

the

keyway before I assembled the pulleys.  Then I aligned the mark with the
pointer on the front cover, then aligned the marks on the crank angle

sensor

and installed it.  This is shown in the Mazda manual page 155.  I assume
this is the correct method of installing the crank angle sensor.

That keyway is 90 degrees CCW from top dead center on rotor number
one. Sounds like you are 90 degrees out. Good idea about scribing the
line.

Timing lights work if your pulley is the correct one for that engine.
