I have a 1500 pound airplane climbing out at 2000 FPM at 100 MPH.
The equivalent flat plate area is 2 square feet. What thrust is
the prop generating?

Well at sea level std (that is a pretty clean airplane for only 2 sq ft
of effective flat plate)
Q is roughly a bit over 25 psf so you are spending about 51 lbsf for
level flight 0r
less than 14 thrust Hp. To climb at that rate you need a surplus of about
91 more
thrust HP for a toatal thrust around 394 lbsf about 105 tot thrust hp
with roughly
60 percent prop at that low speed - about 175 bhp at the shaft.(give or
take a few
for angles etc) -Vance
More or less they way I would figure it.
