Got my engine hanging off the firewall with the new
double tripod motor mount. That combination PSRU/motor-mount
plate is invaluable when it comes time to line things up.
Leon's bell housing will work as well when he gets it done.
Plenty of room around the turbo and the alternator
on the other side. Room in there for two rotaries.
BTW I decided to mount the stock oil cooler along
the spark plug side side of the single rad under the engine.
Hoses will be short. It is about the same core length as most rads.
Namely 19 inches. Four and a half inches wide and only six pounds.

Paul, got my PSRU from Tracy this week. In looking through the manual, and at
the picture of your mount I wondered about the potential for "flex" of the
"Universal motor mount plate" causing some non-concentric movement. The
exhaust side of the mm-plate is not supported to the engine, so a load being
transmitted through the motor mount plate to the tripod has a long lever arm
to move. Have you done any analysis of this? It seems the other side of the
redrive is better supported with the spacer blocks.

There is support on the lower exhaust side. I am not worried about the
flex as the prop torque is the major load and that is taken directly
by the plate with out first going through Tracy's spacer. Yes I have run
the numbers and this is a better way of mounting the engine and taking
the 800 ft pound peak prop torque. The thrust loads that might flex
the plate are less than 200 pounds each. Walk in the park.
If it still bothers you brace it back to the engine with a 1/2 tube
on either side.
The radial rates for the rubber bushings I uploaded were a guess for purposes
of coming up with a method of determining the load sharing.
Here are the actual axial rates from the Barry catalog.
The 22001-15 rated at 300 pounds static is 8000 pounds per inch
up to .1 inch and rising after that to a maximum of .15 inches and
a load of 1800 pounds. Obviously this will more than handle the
Cruiser nose gear load.
The 22001-12 rated at 90 pounds static is 3000 pounds per inch
up to .1 inch and rising after that to a maximum of .15 inches and
a load of 500 pounds. This is the mount I choose for the rear engine
mount.
The 22002-12 rated at 175 pounds is 2000 pounds per inch almost perfectly
linear up to .215 inch and a max load of 650 pounds. This is the one I
choose for the main engine mounts.
I would assume the radial rates are in the same ball park although they
are not specified in the new Barry catalog. Just the old catalog.
