Hi Paul, What is the thinking on using an aluminum flywheel vs. the
flex plate. I was going have an aluminum flywheel built but was
surprised to learn that it is about 5 lbs heavier. Also, I am
assuming (very dangerous activity) that the engine counter balance is
for the engine without flywheel. Jerry
Jury is still out on the flywheel. Perry bought an aluminum flywheel
from Mazdatrix and it weighed 18 pounds. I assume this included the
balance weight. We weighed his manual tx flywheel we just took
off his engine and it weighed 23 pounds. I am not sure yet what is going
on until I weigh a flex plate and a rear counter weight that goes
along with it.
