Got this PRIVATE email from some scam artist electric pump seller
who shall go un-named. Some how he got a copy of my emails on
this subject.
Claims a V8 water pump sucks down 10 KW at 5500 RPM.
Lets see now 10 KW at 746 watts per HP is 13.4 HP !!!!
Well at least he is not claiming 30 HP like Moroso is.
Looked up the power a V belt would transmit in Marks Standard Handbook
for Mechanical Engineers Tenth Edition page 8-56.
Maximum HP a V belt will transmit is 3.5 HP at 5600 RPM
and NOT 13 HP for &%*@^ sakes. This is usually for 180 degree
contact. Less if the angular contact is less.
For a check an alternator generating 70 amps is sucking down
less than two HP! 70 amps times 14 volts is 980 watts.
With 80% efficiency or .8 into 980 or 1225 watts. 1.6 HP!
Man how stupid does this scam artist guy think I am?
Claims he sold 3500 around the world. Only thing I can say is there
is an idiot born every second somewhere in the world.
The only reason they work at all is the average car engine cruises at 2000
RPM and under 30 HP until it comes time to climb a mountain towing a trailer.
In case you haven't noticed our airplanes engines cruise at 150 HP
at 5000 RPM and 35 gallons a minute is barely adequate to cool
our rotaries.
