OK, I'll take the bait. Rubber is a solid, same as glass. Perhaps not a
solid in the traditional crystaline sense, but a solid nonetheless, and as
you say, certainly not a liquid. According to one source, "Polymerised
materials such as rubber show a clear glass transition at low temperatures
but are normally considered to be solid in both the glass and rubber
conditions."
Are we now going to engage in the honorable sport of debating whether glass
is a solid or liquid? Does anyone here still believe the urban legend that
old windows "prove" that glass flows like a liquid? I don't want to bore
people with the physics of amorphous solids and second order phase
transitions if everyone here already agrees that glass does not flow like a
liquid.
