It is just a guess. I think the FAR's specify the landing gear loads
as 4.5 G and some aerobatics airplanes claim they are stressed to 6 G's
positive so I used that number. the static load on each front mount
was assumed to be 150 pounds. That assumes and engine weight with
accessories of 350 pounds.
Ok, very good. Sound assumptions. FWIW, in FAR23 and 25 analysis, a 1.5
design safety margin is required. Sometimes the freebody includes these
factors, sometimes not -- but the design does :-)
The 'pan detail' shows an Al tube. One could only assume this to be
2024,
6061, etc. It is considered bad practice to sleeve steel adjacent to
alum.
Could there be room for an intermediate sleeve? Or 'goop'? or even
multiple
surface coatings? Just didn't know how detailed any other drawings
might
call this out.
Yes on the coating. I don't recommend this approach any more. Too
expensive,
harder to fabricate and complicated. It also assumes you fambricate a
new aluminum oil pan. I now think the large motor plate
is the way to go.
I would be interseted in seeing this, too.
