Had a meeting with the engineer at ARP this morning. they just
happen to be in Santa Paula. Showed him Perry's broken bolt and
handed him a bunch of stock bolts.
Looks like we are going to get some fine
tension bolts and probably cheaper than $17 each that Mazda charges.
Stock bolts are turned on a lathe and the ARP's will be ground.
The engineer was amazed that Mazda ran the threads out beyond the taped
hole in the front cover. That is a no no with these kinds of necked down
bolts. They will probably do a vibration analysis on the bolt to find
the critical RPM's.
