It seems to me that just make "Master - OFF" the last item on your
emergency checklist. I know this won't always get it, but it seems like
any other system adds more complexity and another point of
critical failure.
I ran into the same issue on my Blazer (hope this ISN'T a prophetic
name !) when I added a higher HP Chevy "crate motor" which didn't
have a provision for a mech fuel pump. I added a Facet pulser pump
(with the transistor on the top). The Chevy installation manual calls out
a Chevy fuel pump cutoff switch which is physically large and looks
dangerous (vibration failure) hanging off of the oil pressure sender fitting,
plus cost about $85. I just figure I'll have to get the key turned off.
I'm a safety freak, but there are limits. Considered rigging an N.O. oil
pressure switch with a momentary pushbutton under the edge of the
dash for starting (and for theft security - seredipity), but haven't bothered.
I guess I don't care very much, esp in a car. Who's gonna steal an '85
S10 Blazer, anyway?
