I don't have any idea of where the pump is located- there are pneumatic lines coming from the top of the shock towers in front. As far as reliablity goes, you can't beat the Subaru- 107,000 miles, only oil, gas and spark plugs, one change of timing belt, & tires. Rides like new. I can see why the engine would make a good 100 hp airplane engine.

107,000 miles is peanuts in So Cal. 
Anthing will go 100,000 now adays.
My 94 Cougar is over 100,000 and the 92 Dodge Grand Caravan  over 150,000.
Robin's  1983 RX7 is just off the showroom floor with only 70,000.
If you got over 200,000 I will listen :-)
