Subject: Restrictions on VFR Flight
The VFR restrictions are not based on the damage a light aircraft could
do,
they are based on ramping up the capability of AWACS to track all air
traffic over the US.
We have a couple of people at work that fly with a club based at NAS
Whidbey. They have been grumbling about the restrictions, but not as much
as many of us. They have "hinted" why they are in place. Then late last
week, a pilot had a comm (receive) failure on an IFR flight into Bremerton
(KPWT). He squawked 7600, broadcast blind and completed the flight as last
cleared. When he contacted Center by phone, they told him that they had
been told by the DOD when he had turned off on the A2 taxiway... at an
uncontrolled airport.

Thank you Marc!
Exactly what I've been telling people! I think it was a matter of any
remaining suspects attempting
flight out of the USA...what better way than a low in the weeds GA.....
Reduce the targets though, better diligence on the fixed radar stations, add
AWAC's and Fighters with
today's awesome look-out and down capabilities and they (the feds) have had
a pretty good watch all over...
And if they caught anyone, any need to tell us any time soon? Don't think
so....why let the cat out of the
bag when you can be getting data out of these guys. It's not like they're
citizens and deserve any rights.
ps: when you see the lights on ground zero at night, think of my buddy. He
lives close by there, rent's
those lights out all over the country for movies....he brought them back
asap from many states and offered
them up to help the effort. He spends hours keeping them up and running
every night. He a fellow flight simmer
and a great guy.
