    Yes, I had the same experience (around 28%) and I have been

insured with

AVEMCO since 1997,  I have hull and liability and frankly I don't

think I

can afford their Hull insurance rates at the rate of increase I have

seen in

the last two years.  They tell me I am about 40 hours away from one

of their

price break points, that they applied the RV discount, etc.

   I tried shopping around and only got one quote which was about

1/2 the

price of AVEMCO, so good in fact I checked into the company and

found they

had a "B" rating as an insurance company and had once been acquired

due to

bankruptcy - so I declined even though I liked the price.

Ed, how do you check on an insurance company's background?  I am looking
for insurance, too.

AI, I went to the web pages and did a search using the insurance company's
name and "Ratings" that gave me the ratings from various agency/offices
which do that sort of thing. Most of them have some sort of justification
for their rating from which you may find out such things as previous
bankruptcys or other problems.
