If you are thinking of buying a Visioneer scanner don't.
We bought one yesterday from Best and I tried to install it on my
wife's Windoze 2000 Pro computer. When I inserted the
Visioneer software CD, as instructed, Windoze told me I unplugged
the CD drive???  Unplug the CD drive??? I did not unplug the CD drive.

"Wow!", I said, here is a major breakthrough in software.
Software can now physically unplug computer hardware accessories
such as CD drives. Perhaps it can plug them in too.

I opened up the computer box to see this miracle for myself  and 
Windoze lied again. The CD drive was still plugged in. 

I checked  the "My Computer" icon and sure enough it said the 
CD drive was gone. Windoze lied again.

I took the Visioneer CD out of the CD drive and rebooted 
the computer.

I checked the "My Computer" icon again and sure enough the 
CD drive was back. Amazing!

I went through the whole procedure several more times
with the same results each time just to make sure I was
not doing something wrong. What a waste of time.

The only thing I can think of is Visioneer is selling a virus
on their software CD that messes with the Windoze operating system.
