Guys, every car out there (or nearly) has multiple V-belt drives for acc'ys.
How much trouble do you have with them?  I replace mine every 100K miles
and the mostly look just fine.  Check your own experience. They are pretty good
items if used for the proper speeds and HP loads.   I don't see a thing
wrong with
V belt drives, assuming you understand and design for the substantial side
loads that all belts and chain drives cause.

I have had a great deal of problems with V-Belts. Though the serpentine belts have
not given me any trouble, even when most of the ribs had fallen off!!!

So can we make a serpentine drive with an automatic tensioner?

I think that is an even better idea. Should be lighter than an old V belt drive.
