Gents- How many of you remember the Cessna  337 with Mazda 12A thaat
was trucked to Oshkosh  FI about 20 or so years ago.  quite a bit of
research was done by NASA Lewis (Glenn)  in CLE but it was never
flown.  The project was scrapped, but stuff should be in their files,
yet.   The engine was front mounted.             Ed Fisler,  Mentor, OH

Yep. NASA wrote plenty of tech papers on the subject.

Those papers on line? The Skymaster is one of my favorite airplanes, and
one that would make a great Mazda powered design. I know a fellow who
bought a scrap one as a kit project, fabbed his own new glass wings (based
on updated designs) new engines, etc, and with FAA permission, registered
it as "experimental" as he did over 50% of the building!
