I think I missed something. Is it the point to make control tubes out of
carbon
 fiber? If so it is a good idea but perhaps not just lay-up the carbon over
 an aluminum tube. I like the idea of a carbon control tube. Should be very
 light weight for a given compressive load.

The discussion was about sealing around the flap actuator tube on the KIS.
One suggestion was to apply release agent to the tube, wrap some fiberglass
layup around it, and then breakthe bond, and bond the fiberglass to the
fuselage.  This makes a tight seal around the actuating rod.  Someone then
suggested using carbon fiber to get a "lubrication effect", and it was
pointed out that carbon against metal was prone to corrosion.
