Sounds like a 3/32" O-ring would be very bad, esp

with a bit of crud

build-up in the groove, or even sealant.  Using

sealant sounds like a

bad idea in that this fills the expansion volume and

will either force

the sealant out when heated or break something.  Non-

curing sealants

probably extrude when heated the first time.

SEALANT??????!!!!!! ........ There shouldn't be no
stinking NOTHING in that groove but the APPROPRIATE
seal, PERIOD!!

Hi folks !

After more than 15 years of rebuilding  and modifying rotaries, i would
like to comment on these discussion.
I have always used the Mazda stock gasket / o-ring set.
When putting the engine together, i always use water free Vaseline to
hold the o-rings in place.
A little Vaseline on the o-ring and a brush to put some in the groove.
Then the o-ring will stay in place for hours, if needed.
Worked in stock 10A:s to highly modified 13B turbo´s.

The TES O-rings Martin are stiffer than the stock O-rings. It is harder
to get them to lie in the groove. Even with Vaseline.  When you buy
them they don't come flat. I found that using a plywood
form to pre set the TES  O-rings works well. Here is a picture.
