Climb?  Engine goes leaner?  If you start out LOP, the temp will go up as
the mixture gets richer as you climb.  Won't it?

Maybe I'd better stick with a simulator.

You got me Bob. I'll do some test next time I fly the 182 in a few days.
I think what might happen is if you lean the mixture at less than about 8K the 
power could drop below the magic 65% number. And then you if richen it up a bit the 
power climbs over the magic 65% number and that exceeds the valve temp limit.
I'll have to take the engine manual with me to see exactly were 65% power
is in terms of manifold pressure and RPM.
