BTW Scott you can still use that 2.85 if you go to wider  or
more blades with your limited prop diameter. You will  still get more
static thrust because the engine will be making more power at higher
RPMs. Here is a low diameter wide blade air boat prop for a high power
engine that illustrates the point. This 550 ci Cadilac engine runs at 3000 RPM
and the prop is made by Sensinich(s?).

Yes, I should look into the Sensenich wood props.  Haven't contacted them yet.  I talked
some more to the fellow at Sensenich making the composite ground-adjustable airboat props.
When I asked him what might be the efficiency of the propeller at 50 to 60 mph, he said, "I
have no idea".  That didn't give me a warm fuzzy.  I'll call and ask about the wood props.
