As I remember the  antenna was about 1oo yards in front of the phased

array.

The array was 100 ft. tall and 150 ft. long and concave in contour.  You
could actually see the antenna move to look at different part of the

array

which I suppose was the way they directed the signal.

They also used this thing to track some 200 objects in earth orbit.  All
items in orbit were identified except 4 strangers.  They had a schedule

of

orbital items on the wall of the radar room.

They could also bounce a signal off Mars and the moon.

I think they are still using this one and one in iceland, one in Turkey

and

one in Madagaskar.

Look for Cobra Dane probably still operated by General Electric and the

113th

Air force observation Squadron.

In a couple of my reincarnations in the USAF I was responsible for
processing certain data from the Cobra Dane and its companions Cobra Judy
and Cobra Ball or providing Air Force Systems Command techincal support.
Veryyyyyy interesting stuff, but if I told you more, I'd have to shoot you.
