Things have changed. On the other hand only now 727's are finally being
retired
here in the States after Sept 11. Not to say they have not been upgraded
along the way.

It's a shame - a lot of our customers (United for example) flew the 27's and
they were always good planes to work, very few structural or avionics
writeups when they came in for scheduled heavy maintenance. Although I've
spent some quality time cursing the designers as I tried to fit through
various areas under the floor to run wires.
