My main concern is over speed at high altitudes and I intend
to install a turbo charger tach of some kind.

Something like that.

Another major problem is knock. You cannot allow your turbo engine to
knock or you may fracture an apex seal.
Here is a simple knock sensor circuit that works.
Note the ear phone. The human brain is an excellent real time
audio digital signal processor.
