Just for the record,  I do use just two barrels of the stock Mazda  (3

barrel) throttle body.  Nothing wrong with having a bigger one except that
throttle response just off idle is sudden and difficult to modulate if it is
too big.  This will mainly affect taxi operations but still worth
considering.

Tracy, thanks for the valuable input, I can see where that would be a problem. I ran into the same issue modulating a hi intensity light source for medical fiber optics, the lamp was xenon arc so could not be modulated in power. The "slide throttle" was a mechanical vane and as it opened it would overwhelm system with light; very non-linear. Solution was to put a very sharp Vee starting with almost a slot in the slide. Paul... sounds like a big advantage for the slide throttle yes?

Perhaps. In Tracy's case if he redesigned the linkage he could have 
almost any change in ratio as he came off idle. A spiral thingy
and cable comes to mind. Slow then faster.
