Its not much different than stock  vis a vis the fuel rail.
The fuel rail is in the same relative position to the stock exhaust
manifold. I don't like it any better than you do and that is
why I am moving mine over to the cool side of the engine.

The muffler is better than it looks. It is a tangential muffler
and the exhaust pulses spin around inside there and become somewhat
homogenized before the gases make their way out. It is also made
from .063 thick 304  stainless for durability.  I like it. Jerry
lives on a private air strip 35 miles from the nearest town.
The only animal that will notice is a few horses and cows. :-)

Perhaps the nearby Army Delta Force will think they are being attacked
by a Taliban secret weapon :-)>

BTW Jerry has this heavy duty SS dual muffler for sale. It has
perforated tubes inside and it is packed with something. What is it
packed with Jerry?. This too is heavy gage 304 SS and looks like it will
stand up fine to the rotary.

Mark,   there will be shielding.  Actually I had made  and installed a
heat shield of .016 SS.  It was permanently attached to the muffler.
Then (oops!)  I found out that it blocked access to  one of the exhaust
flange bolts.   Next version of the heat shield will be removable.  I am
hoping that this tangential design will not be particularly loud.  The
nice thing about it is that it is compact, light, and clears hot exhaust
gas from the cowl very quickly.

The muffler was custom built for the rotary by Stainless Steel
Specialities  in Florida.   The interior  looks to be just the
perforated tubes.  I don't think there is any packing.        It came
with my engine and I am told it was very expensive.   I will trade it
for two Barry Mounts of the appropriate size.  (same as Paul's whatever
that  is)  ....... Jerry
