I am probably one of the *last* people to defend Bill Gates, but I think it is unfair to
blame Netscape's buggy JVM on him or Microsoft.  My 4.7 version of Netscape (under Win2000)
opens Jon's website without problems.

more than one way to do a web site.

Agreed.  These little Java applets aren't doing anything overly magic that can't also be
done with mouseOver events.  Plus the Java applet isn't free: dial-up folks must download
all 10KB of it the first time they visit Jon's site.  Hey, 4 seconds is 4 seconds...

What came first? Netscape or Java? Who needs Java? There are plenty of
web sites around that work fine and don't use it. Its all artsi fartsi stuff anyway.
It adds nothing to the web site. What you really want or need is info and pictures.

Back in the old days what we were fond of saying is if you want to reach the
most number of people use the lowest common denominator. Dump Java.

Paul we are glad to see that it is not just us computer programmers that have a high degree of
dislike for Billy Bob.  We personally think he has done much injustice to the computer (PC)
industry. He has done a few good things, but then others have done much more without the harm
that he has caused in his quest to be the owner of the world.  And yes dump the jave beans before
they are ever roasted.
We use Netscape as well and prefer  it over all the rest combined.
Oh well not the forum for Gates bashing.
