Paul,
In the design of the part of the motor mount that sits on the tripod, your
sketches show it to be a 2" wide x 1/2" thick aluminum piece that
"egg-crates" to the extended motor_mount plate.  If you then use a Barry
controls 22002 rubber mount, the hole through the aluminum piece must then be
1.3", leaving only 0.35" on each side of the aluminum ear for support.

Am I missing something, or are the dimensions different?

Yes 2 inches is marginal. Make it 2.25 or 2.5.
.35 is not as bad as it looks as max bending load is back where it
slots into the motor plate.
