turbo.

That is true. It lacks an insert period. Did you know Mazda only makes one
rotor
housing casting for all years 86 and up replacement uses? It happens to be
the
one on the left. You can tell the 93 and up rotor housing by the knock
sensor boss above
the trailing spark plug. I think they just change exhaust inserts.

If that's the case they sure should cost a lot less than they do!!!

Here is how the business world works Tom. You price things as high
as the market will bear. Can you buy these rotor housings from somebody
else? It does not seem to occur to the car manufacturers that if you
price your spare parts too high people will stop buying your cars.
Apparently they don't think this is a factor judging by the spare 
parts prices of certain Japanese and German cars.

If one is being entirely objective one would take that into consideration
before one bought a new car of a particularly make. You would also have
to factor in the likely hood of actually needing the spare parts.
In other words how often is the car going to break down?
This is far too complicated and too subtle for the average buyer
to comprehend.
