What has all this got to do with the part that screws into the block?

Nothing that I can detect. The tube to boss idea is a good one. Alot less stress on the casting but hard to get a good flat surface for a copper or alumiunm gasket to seal against and not enough material left for a chamferred corner "O" ring seal. Also better done on a mill. We oil the crank from both ends, so I tap out the boss above this one that runs into the front stationary gear, for a 3/8" pipe fitting by dash 10. When I get done there is very little material left around the hole, but no problems yet. Some day I want to plug the dowel pins in between the oil inlets and feed each end of the crank with its own oil pump segment. Looking for 100 PSI at 9,500 RPM.

Here is another good trick.
Feed oil pressure into the front end of the e-shaft (crank) as trying to force
oil into a high RPM shaft through the main bearings is a losing situation. Centrifugal force
is working against you. In the latter case the shaft is working like a
centrifugal oil pump helping the situation. I think Porsche came up with this idea.
