It sure would. I just calculated the load and stress for 900 pounds
each side during
a six G drop in crash landing and it came out to 9,000 psi just using
the lower angle section of the casting. Well within the capabilities
of
356-T6 aluminum casting material. So I simplified and did
away with the upper diagonal. This will give more room for the stock
turbo exhaust pipe and an intercooler on the other side.
A further advantage is it can be cut to any width. How about
that Mike? :-)

Should be a bit lighter as well.

This is a beautiful design. A couple of points you probably already
thought of. The flange that will hold the Barry Isolator should be
thick enough that a .563" pad can be machined. Also, be sure to
provide sufficient width for the snubbing washer (goes on top of the
Barry Mount) which is 2.3" diameter.

The cast bell housing will drop into my engine mount fixture, no
problem. In this regard it is interchangeable with the Motor Mount
Plate.

If you are looking for someone to do the finish machining, I can
probably do it for a price you will like. Jerry

Thanks Jerry.

Yes on the flange. It must have some draft so it will have to be
machined or sanded flat for the rubber. At least on the bottom.

Yes! Perfectly interchangeable with the motor plate and spacer
arrangement. Probably a wash on the weight and cost. I am driven mostly
by cosmetics here. I would like the engine to look as professional
as possible. Nothing like a nice casting to spruce things up.

We are doing the final particle board version of the MM plate either
tonight or tomorrow. All the CAD related problems have been sorted
out. We have already purchased the aluminum plate for the first real
one. Don't know if we will be able to get it out before you go to SnF
however. When are you leaving? Jerry

Robin just called and she is stuck in Indy and it does not look good getting
out on UAL to LA for the next couple of days. Therefore she will be driving
15 hours with her friend Marcia to Florida tomorrow.

Looks like there is a weather window for me leaving LA Mon. Tue. Wen..
Plans are now leaving early Mon morning but maybe early Sun morning which may be
smarter weather wise. In that case there will only be two of us. Therefore Charlie
we may arrive at your place as early as Tues late afternoon.
We will get your phone number and call you from our last stop before your place.
