BTW Vlad told me the Russians spent millions of rubles trying to come
up with
a cheap way of quieting the wankel and they discovered the simple use
of square tubing
does wonders. Brian Trubee was ahead of his time with this muffler
design.

Jerry, can you weld up one of these out of .049 321 for use on our test
stand?
No rush. Fab the out put pipe out of flat sheet and make it square.

Paul,  I don't know if I can or not.   Is  the muffler wall the  inside
skin of the exhaust pipe? 

Yes.

 I assume that we are just welding the sq.
tube over the round exhaust flange opening.

 When searching for
materials for my muffler,  I found 304 SS tubing but not 321.

304 would be good for testing. 321 seems to hold up better.
On the other hand Tracy got 650 hours out of a .035 304 muffler.

thinking of rolling 321 sheet for the muffler?

Also, be prepared for
outrageous pricing on materials.   Except for SS Specialities,  who were
reasonable. the prices per foot were breathtaking.  SS Specialities has
304 x .065 tubing, nothing else.  I recall that 6" diameter was
available in four foot minimums. .....Jerry

I think we can make everything out of flat .049 SS sheet since SS 
bends are also very very expensive.

We intend building a test stand and dyno combination to test the 
LAEV prop and various and assorted intake manifolds, turbo chargers,
radiator ducts and mufflers. It will be something like this 
drawing except we will weld it out of one inch square electric welded tubing.

Instead of a bathroom scale to measure the torque it will
be a hydraulic cylinder and a pressure gage. Everett Hatch
had a dyno like this.

I may need you to build this too as Steve Koz my hangar neighbor,
Florida S&F trip co-pilot and local steel fabricator wants to go 
hang gliding in NZ :-) No problem testing a turbo engine where
you live :-)
