I use Westach thermocouples and dual guage manufactured by Wesberg Mfg.Inc.
of California. The guage reads up to a maximum of 1600F and when the probes
are  installed according to manufacturer specs will indicate max temperature
when  the throttle is opened wide for power. The probes also were prone to
failing from overheating and had to be replaced several times. So I moved
the probes away from the exhaust ports until the gauge indicates around
1400-1500F in flight. I like to verify that the temps of the two rotors are
consistent from flight to flight with throttle and mixture settings and are
within 50-75F of one another.
