After more months than I care to admit, I've finally changed the rad

get in the air today due to battery problems Now the only air entering the
cowl goes through the rads except for a gap around the transmission.
Is anyone using Odyssey batteries. Are they the "recombinant" type that
Nuckolls likes? The only one that will fit in my box is one of their 16AH
sizes. Sound s small. Any comments?
Thanks

Hi Peter,

Nice looking bird. I've used the Odyssey battery ever since one of my
Concord RG batteries crapped out after 9 months. I now use two PC628 (now
called the PC625) and like them much better than the Concord RGBs for the
following reasons: 1 They can be found much cheaper - like between $75-$160
(yes, the price varies that much so shop the internet for best deals). 2.
They are considerably lighter - my concord 25AH weighed 22 lbs apiece, the
PC628 weights 14 lbs. While their capacity is rate at 17 AH verus the
Concord 25AH my experience (and many others that use them) is that due to
their very low internal resistance they crank the engine better than the
Concord.

Many RV builders are turning to the Odyssey. Looking at your bird 17 AH
would probably be overkill unless you have a lot more electronics stuff
under the cowl that I would think.

Hope this help - Oh, yes some of the batteries come with a MJ designation
(Metal Jacket around them for motorcycle users), they are more expensive and
weigh more which we fliers don't need. So make certain you get the one
without the "MJ" designation.
