What I would like to do is gather some statistics from all those
that are flying. Dave Leonard has agreed to eventually put them
up on his web site for all to access.

Here is a list of proposed questions:

Type of airplane?

prop dia?

prop pitch?

prop make?

top air speed?

cruise air speed at what alt?

GPH at cruise?

exhaust temp?

rate of climb FPM at what weight?

size of water rad?

size of oil cooler?

OAT above which water does not cool during climb?

OAT above which oil does not cool during climb?


Did I miss anything?

Can anyone think of any more?

Paul, I might suggest that all airspeeds be in True Airspeed.  Everybodies
indicated can be almost anything for the same True Airspeed.  Perhaps both
would be wise to collect as I collect IAS to convert to TAS with altitude
and OAT. Also probably need to standarize on MSL or pressure altitude, if
you have MSL and OAT and Altimeter setting you can get pressure, but might
be simpler to just set the altimeter to 29.92 for gathering data.  FWIW

I would also suggest the weight of the aircraft - it does make a difference
in climb and top speed with some aircraft.  The RV has a barn door wing and
if you have more incident due to heavier gross weight it WILL knock off some
on the top airspeed.
