Paul, The outside temps are reaching 105. I have no idea how hot
it is under this tin roof, but final welding of the engine mount is
going slowly due to the river of sweat inside my helmet. When I
look down, a steam flows into my glasses. It is like looking through
an aquarium.
It is good the first engine mount is my own as working through the
process has led to improvements that will make the next one that much
easier to build and a better final product too.
In the photos about half of the welding is completed, basically the
welds that are easy to get at.
Some might find my welds a bit heavy, but I am not comfortable with
small, neat TIG welds in engine mounts. Better to have a wider heat
zone, deep penetration and a bit more filler. That way I can sleep
at night.
The engine mount is entirely .75 x .049 4130 tubing. The gear mount
is a bit heavier, .8750 x .049.
Looking at the final product, I am really pleased by your clean,
powerful design. Plenty of room between the lower braces for a
radiator, too.

Thanks Jerry.
Nice workmanship. Simple, strong and to the load points.
