At least 3/16" thick. If you plan to machine it on a lathe by
boring bar stock it make it 1/4 inch thick.
Adds a tiny bit of weight but it is a high stress area.

Paul, .188 is very thick, indeed. You need an i.d. of a little more
than an inch to clear the .750" socket (mine is 1" o.d.). To get
this with .188 wall would require 1.5" dia. tubing. I went much
lighter in my installation, 1.25 X .049 wall. To this is welded
three .750 x 049 tubes with substantial fillet welds. The fillets
beef it up considerably. The resulting cluster is quite massive.
The top washer is .125 thick. I purchased it from the Barry
distributor.
I'm not arguing. Just surprised.

Just the washer welded to the tube and not the tube. Also only on
the bushing-in-the-firewall type mounts.
BTW How thick is your bottom washer? Should be .125. PL
P.S. this is under the category of too much time on my hands. I
had an all stainless muffler built by Stainless Steel specialities.
It was 24" long, and packed with glass fibre. I cut the ten inch
center out of it and removed the packing. The result is about
fifteen inches long including inlets and outlets. It has three
expansion chambers made by solid partitions which I have outlined in
the photo. 2 inch holes are cut in the partitions in line with the
inlet/outlet tubes. 2" o.d. pipe will slip into the inlets. I
have no idea what its effect on engine performance or noise might be.
