Also as NACA pointed out in their extractor tech papers the extractor only
works up to the point where the forward speed equals the extractor speed
and that can be as low as 40 MPH. The airspeed out of the rads I am
seeing with the test box is 40 MPH at a forward speed of 74 MPH.
If your exhaust velocity out of the turbo is less than 40 MPH
the extractor quits working.

Paul,
Relative to augmentors, should we be considering that the air flowing through
the radiator openings may be accelerated, but only represents part of the
area -- right next to the opening is a small "dead" air area. Should the
appropriate measurement point be located back far enough from the rear face
of the rad to 'integrate' the effect?

Yes that is what I did. I picked one inch. Right now I am looking for gross
effects.
BTW I was kind of surprised to find the air velocity out of the
back of the rad was so high.
This explains a lot of the problems we are having as 40 MPH will generate
considerable static pressure on any obstacle within about ten inches of the
back side of the rad.
