  On the KIS family of airplanes we use a one pc aluminum spring gear

and

the mounting scheme is similar
to the attached sketch. Rubber or other elastomer is critical in

attaching

spring gear. The mounting
point is going to rotate, and unless you provide elstic deflection,
something is going to yeild.
we use a closely machined aluminum U clamp - the deflection will close

on

the gear leg
clamping it securely and limiting the bending of the clamp. Die rubber

about

1/4 in thick is used on
both sides (particularly with composite to prevent point loads from
destroyong the matrix)
and som builders have felt that a harder rubber is called for. - Vance

Yes Vance I like this idea. You are right: rigid clamping is not the answer
even without composit although Cessna is rigid.
