Static pressure in the wedge part of the duct was 80% of dynamic pressure.
What blew me away was this diffuser is a simple wedge and
the flow variation was 50% back to front. In other words the
flow out of the sharp end was only 50% of what it was out
of the front end. This is opposite results to what you get when
the air is impinging on the rad at a 30 degree angle.
In this case the angle is zero and the air must make a 90 degree
turn to go through the rad. (BTW which it seems to do with no
problem.) Now the optimum shape becomes a bulge at the sharp
end. I'll do a 3D eventually on this.
Pressure behind the second flap was a disappointing zero or ambient
static pressure. I had hoped for some negative pressure back here.
Perhaps the optimum venetian bland flap set up is a four inch wide flap
in the front a six inch wide flap in the middle and an eight inch wide
flap in the back. Something I might try.
